Monday to Sheets vs Zapier: a mirror or a chain of events

Zapier adds a row each time something happens on a monday.com board. Monday to Sheets mirrors it in a tab. Tasks, polling and prices checked 19 October 2026.

Zapier's most used monday.com template adds a row to a Google Sheet when a new item is created on a board. That sounds like a sync. It isn't quite, and the difference shows up the first time someone changes a status.

We make Monday to Sheets, so read this knowing who wrote it. Zapier's figures came off its pricing page and its monday.com and Google Sheets templates on 19 October 2026.

Use Zapier if the sheet is one step in a longer chain, like a new item that also posts to Slack and opens an invoice. Use Monday to Sheets if the sheet should look like the board, with every item and every change, for reporting.

A Zap reacts, a sync mirrors

A Zap runs when an event fires on the board. "New item in board" fires once for each new item and adds one row. If that item's status changes tomorrow, the row doesn't change, unless you build a second Zap that finds the row and updates it. Deleting an item needs a third. That's 3 Zaps to keep working for one sheet.

Monday to Sheets copies the board as it stands. A run, or a change on live sync, writes the current values for every item into the tab. A status change shows up. A deleted item drops off on the next run. There's one setup per board.

Zapier charges per task

A task is one action that runs. One new item that adds one row is one task.

Zapier plan Price (billed yearly) Tasks a month Checks for new data
Free $0 100 Every 15 minutes, 2-step Zaps only
Pro From $19.99/mo From 750 Every 2 minutes
Team From $69/mo From 2,000 Every 1 minute

Monthly billing costs more: Pro starts at $29.99 a month.

A board that gets 50 new items and 200 status changes a day is around 7,500 tasks a month once you add the update Zap. That's past the 5,000 tier, so it's the 10,000-task Pro tier at $129 a month billed yearly. Monday to Sheets doesn't count rows or changes: $19 for every 3 hours, $39 for live.

Backfill and history

A Zap starts from the moment you turn it on. The items already on the board don't come through unless you add them some other way.

Monday to Sheets syncs the whole board, or one group, on the first run.

Who should choose Zapier

Choose it when the sheet is an event log. A Zap that adds a row when a deal is marked Won is a good fit.

Choose it when one monday.com change has to do several things in several tools.

Who should choose Monday to Sheets

Choose us when the sheet feeds a report, like a pivot table or a weekly number. A report needs the board as it stands today.

Choose us when the board changes a lot. A flat price beats paying per change.

Choose us if edits in the sheet should go back to monday.com. That's two-way sync on Business.

FAQ

Can Zapier keep a Google Sheet in sync with a monday.com board?

Partly. You can combine a "new item" Zap with Zaps that update or delete rows, but each one is separate, and each run spends tasks.

Is Zapier free for monday.com to Google Sheets?

Its free plan covers 100 tasks a month with 2-step Zaps. That's 100 new rows.
